When my wife and I first started dating, we would go back to
Aberdeen to visit my family and we would always make sure if there
was only one thing we did during that weekend, it would be to eat
at a place called Marys Kitchen. It was just a small little place
on the way out of town towards Westport. My friends mom owned the
place and she liked nothing more than to stuff her boys friends
until we couldn't move. It was the kind of place the served a ton
of food for not very much money.
Her specialty was the biscuits and gravy. I am talking the
biscuits and gravy that had real sausage in the gravy and when they
poured it over the biscuits I swear you could see a little grease
layer on top. Mind you this is not very good for your heart, but it
is surely good for ones soul!!
Sadly, Marys Kitchen has since closed and because of that my
wife and I have been on a crusade to find a place that served
biscuits and gravy that matched Marys Kitchen.
Luckily once we were married we moved down to Puyallup and we
were told of a place that is near this cache. To our shear delight
we found that their biscuits and gravy is darn near identical of
that at Marys Kitchen. It is also a great place to enjoy a nice cup
of coffee as the sun comes up over the mountain in the distance.
Now the wife loves her biscuits and gravy but I have also found
that the chicken fried steak and eggs is great too. Either one and
you won't be disappointed.
