Cache is located just off the VISTA trail. Original Cache (down the cow trail) had complaints of getting wet due to the river rising, shouldn’t be a problem anymore. It is just off a path no real bushwhacking is required. In the Spring please be mindful of the flowers.
The cache is off the ground and out of sight. Please ensure the lid is resealed and return it to its original hiding spot with its natural covering.
After finishing caching for the day I was heading back to the car and took a path I hadn’t traveled before. The path dead-ended so I headed back by bushwhacking back to the main trail. As I stepped between some trees I found a cache container fully exposed that I had no listing for. Checked the log and found it was placed in 2002 and last visit was in 2005. Checking the web site proved the obvious, archived. It was called “One of a Kind Cache”.
Finding an abandon cache doesn’t happen to everyone and since I am relatively new to this sport I thought starting my first cache in close proximity would be a great start. Notice I said “close proximity”, putting it is the same location would be too easy for those that had found the original.
As I stated, this is my first cache, I would appreciate comments on the cache location, container, or hiding place…. Good or bad. This so I can make my next better. TIA
Cache is PB jar wrapped in camo tape.
August 2010 – The cache location has been moved several 100 meters (coordinates updated) to meet the new requirements for the Rouge Park. The new location is the first to be approved by the Rouge Park. Original location is down the “cow” trail that is just past the cache. This “cow” trail is not an official trail and the park asks that stay on the official trails that are marked with signs and trail blazes. Thank you.
Nov 2012 - cache has moved about 2 meters up hill as original hide has rotted away. I was getting too much GPS bounce to get a new reading. will get one next visit.
