Geocache Description:

Moraine State Park McDanel's Boat Launch

1st Earth Day CITO at Moraine State Park on Sunday April 22, 2007 starting at 10am done by 3pm. This event is approved by Moraine SP. We will start at McDanel's Boat Launch pavilion number 6. The coordinates are for the parking lot. Directions: from Butler-Rt422 West to North Shore exit then first right. From Slippery Rock Rt108 left onto West Park Road at stop right to stay on West Park, left into North Shore then next right then left. Email me for better directions.

10am for sign in, meet and greet, environmental activities, informational, etc. We'll feed you lunch around noon. There will be plenty of water-please bring a water bottle if you have one. After lunch areas will be assigned starting with day use areas where we expect to find the most trash. I have garbage bags and hopefully safety green vests. We will be recycling whatever we can. Please bring your own work gloves and other things you'll need for CITO. All trash collected will be returned to McDanel's to count and for disposal/recycle. We plan to have a most trash collected contest again and possible door prizes. We should be done with the clean up around 3pm. Geocachers will have time to find any new caches.

I hope to have at least 4 new caches that won't be released until the event (have ideas of where they will be). As any cache temp or perm in a State Park-it must be approved by the ranger.

**update 2/26/07**
Butler Outdoor Club and Girl Scouts are deciding on an activity to facilitate. Cub Scouts are deciding if they will be able to host an activity.
I have sent donation letters and requests for facilitators to several organizations.
**update 3/13/07**
A GS troop from Mars will do a water conservation activity
Not sure about BOC and Cub Scouts.
PA Fish and Boat sent materials for the event.
**update 3/28/07**
3/27/2007 10:58:00 AM The Bike Trail on the North Shore has been officially closed until completion of the construction contract, September 21, 2007.
**update 4/6/07**
confirmed Butler Outdoor Club will do an activity and Mars area Senior GS troop will have a water conservation game. The newly formed BACON (Butler Area Cachers of Note) will set up a powerpoint of the Grand Staircase. The bike trail closure shouldn't affect the clean up too much-I just won't send people to 5 points.
**update 4/18/07**
walked through the clean up site and now there's 2 illegal firepits that need removed. area is muddy (go figure with all the rain). did a drive through where the scouts will be cleaning. hid 4 new caches-hoping Moraine has time to approve them. lunch is ham bbqs. think that is all that is news.
