Short Description:
By the base of a tree, between roots and covered by rocks.
Long Description:
Between Nagykovácsi and Adyliget follow the P sign. From
Nagykovácsi on the left side of
the path there is a reddish puddle; a strange formation of which
not much is known.
Usually some water can be found in it that really has a reddish
color. After seeing this you
will see why the mountainside inherited the name: "Vöröspocsolyás
hát" (red puddle
back). This place is very much liked by wild boars; this can be
seen from markings of the
reddish mud on the trees.
Of the boar family there is only one type that comes from Europe
(Sus scrofa scrofa). It
can also be seen in Asia and northern Africa. However, it has been
taken into North and
south America. In Hungary these creatures can be found mainly east
of the Danube River,
in the North-central Mountains (Északi-középhegységben), and in the
Pilis mountains
(where the Hungarian kings used to hunt). The boars like to live in
wet, swampy, forest
areas. However they can also be seen in coniferous forests, bushy
areas, and even by
reed covered lake shores. Its resting place during the day is
preferably a corn or
sunflower field and it will only go foraging from dusk until dawn.
They eat almost anything
they come across, including nuts, berries, carrion, roots, tubers,
refuse, insects, small
reptiles--even young deer and lambs. After rain the boars like to
search for worms in
fields and pastures.
The place can be accessed by bicycle; however, this is only advised
for those who like
small rocky paths.
The cache is a blue lidded plastic box of 23x8x5cm dimension. Not
far from the path on the
side of puddle at the base of a large tree you will find the cache
under some rocks. The
GPS reception can be week in the area, so it is advised to look at
the pictures.
Enjoy!
