OK – Die Hards, let’s see what you are made of. This cache is .7
miles from easy parking on Mt. Rose Highway. We placed it while
snow-shoeing but the snow was firm enough that we didn’t have to
put on our snow shoes. At the low snow levels that we have in the
winter of 2007 it should be a relatively easy hike and find. It
might be covered if there were 24 or more inches of snow on the
ground.
Reno Christian Fellowship has a group known as “Adventures in
Marriage” (a.k.a. AIM) that organizes activities for couples. The
activity for January of 2007 was snow shoeing. We had a group of 24
of us that made the moderate hike from Tahoe Meadows to “Chickadee
Ridge” with its magnificent view of lake Tahoe. The cache is under
a rock and is visible to anyone who is short enough and looking the
right direction. There was a good signal here and the coordinates
should be accurate.
Note – I have searched for hides in the snow only to get to
ground zero and find that the cache is under many feet of snow. At
least in the winter of 2007, this should not be the case. The cache
should be easily retrievable unless we get major snowfall.
