Galbraith Mountain, also known as Lookout Mountain, is home to
an outstanding system of trails and panoramic views overlooking the
San Juans, Cascade Mountains, Whatcom Lake and Bellingham are all
around, even at lower elevations.
Whatcom County based Trillium Corporation owns over 3600 acres
of undeveloped forest land on Galbraith for which it maintains a
recreational use agreement with WHIMPS(Whatcom Independant Mountain
Pedalers), a local mountain biking organization. The agreement
allows unmotorized access to the public without charging any
fees.
Galbraith is a mountain biking wonderland. Access roads,
ladders, single track and even several intense expert trails
cris-cross the mountain providing challenges to riders of all skill
levels.
I suggest riding but If it's not your thing the trails are
hikable too. Also, before leaving you might want to stop by REI or
a bike shop in town and pick up a local knowledge trail map.
This cache is the first in a series I plan to place here. It can
be accessed from "Tower Road"(Road 2000). The cache site is one of
a few places on the mountain where you have a near 360 degree birds
eye view of Bellingham, Mount Baker, the San Juans and Puget Sound.
You are looking for a regular size ammo can painted tan.
This is a GEOCOIN ONLY cache, please keep that in mind when
making trades.
There are three ways to approach the cache.
