This cache is located at “Hachiman-bridge” near “Tomioka Hachiman-guu” in Fukagawa, Tokyo.
This bridge, built in 1878 at Kyobashi-area, was moved here since 1929.
99 years before this bridge was built as the First Iron Bridge in Japan, The First Iron Bridge in the World was built in Shropshire, England in 1879.
Hachiman-bashi was designated as Japan’s National Treasure in 1977. Also, it was awarded by American Society of Civil Engineers in 1989, the very first time for Japanese technology.
This red and small bridge has its honorable face. Now the promenade is under the bridge, we would have seen the beautiful figure with reflecting light from the river.
Cache size is micro-to-small cache of 6cm diameter, red-colored, round capsule for Toy vending machine (Japanese people call it “Gacha-Gacha). Please BYOP (bring your own pen).
I recommend you to come find this cache via Tomioka Hachiman-guu. Tomioka Hachiman-guu, possibly built in 1627, has many points of interests, such as;
The biggest MIKOSHI in Japan (MIKOSHI means “portable and mobile shrine”)
YOKOZUNA (Sumo Grand Champion) Monument, built in 1900,
Monument of Tadataka INOU, the father of Japan’s surveying who started to measure the whole Japan from 1800,
First TRIANGULAR STATION in JAPAN to celebrate introducing WGS-84.
The festival of Tomioka Hachiman-guu is one of the three “Edo-era Big Festival”. It has been so popular that, on 15th Augustl, 1807, Eitai-bashi, a bridge located about 1 kilometer west from Tomioka Hachiman-guu, had fallen down by crowded people.
Also recommended is to visit here on 1st, 15th, or 28th of each month for so many YATAI, food carts and small stores, are opened around this area.

このキャッシュは深川の富岡八幡宮のそばにある「八幡橋」に設置されています。
この橋は１８７８年に国産初の鉄橋として京橋楓川にかけられていたものを、１９２９年に現在地に移転されたものです。ちなみにこの橋の９９年前、１７７９年にはイギリスのシュロプシャーにある、その名も「Iron Bridge」が世界初の鉄橋として完成しています。
八幡橋は１９７７年に国の重要文化財に指定されたほか、１９８９年には日本で初めて米国土木学会より栄誉賞を受賞しています。全長１５ｍの真っ赤なかわいい橋ですが、由緒があるんです。今は下が遊歩道ですが、川の光を浴びた当時はさぞ綺麗だったのでしょう。
キャッシュは直径６センチの、赤く塗ったガチャガチャのカプセルです。中にはペンがありませんので、何か書くものをご持参下さい。
このキャッシュは富岡八幡宮を通って来られることをお薦めします。１６２７年創建といわれる富岡八幡宮には、横綱力士碑（１９００年建立）や１８００年から日本測量の旅に出た日本測量の父、伊能忠敬の碑があります。伊能忠敬の碑の横には２００２年に日本が世界測地系の導入を記念して設置した日本発の世界測地系の三角点もあり、ジオキャッシャーなら一度は訪れて面白い場所だと思います。

富岡八幡のお祭りは江戸３大祭りの一つで、３年に一度の本祭りは壮大です。１８０７年８月１５日のお祭りの時には、ここから西に１キロほど行った永代橋にまで人が群がり、橋が落下して大惨事になったくらいです。境内には日本最大の御神輿もありますので、是非一度ご覧下さい。
また、縁日が毎月１日、１５日、２８日に開催されますので、その日に訪れることをお薦めします。
