Geocache Description:

This multi cache will take you on a short journey through Willow Dale Cemetery. Your final destination will be a nearby city park.

Please be respectful of your surroundings while gathering your information. Also, some of the paths at the cemetery are narrow. Be sure to choose your route carefully - especially if you have a large vehicle.

The final location is:

N 35° 22.abc W 78° 00.def

Stage 1

The listed coords will take you to Stage 1. This is a mass Confederate grave site at Willow Dale Cemetery. Take a few minutes to read the plaques & look at the memorial. You will need to gather 2 pieces of information while you are here. Please remain on the sidewalk while gathering your information.

A = Stand in the front side of the memorial. Below the soldier's feet are some cannons etched into the memorial. The number of cannons - 2 = a

B = The number of total soldiers buried in the grave divided by 100

Stage 2

Stage 2 is only about 50 ft or so away from the Confederate grave.

The coords are: N 35° 22.509; W 77° 59.732

You are looking for the grave of Eliza Dyer. I saw this head stone & it just struck me. Definitely a sign of the times way back when. You will see what I mean when you read the headstone. You will need to gather 2 pieces of information here.

C = The first digit of Eliza's age at death - 1

D = The last digit of Eliza's year of death

Stage 3

Coords: N 35° 22.462; W 77° 59.816

This stage is a short drive from stage 2 (or you could walk). You are looking for the grave of Lucian Waters. You should be able to see this easily from the paved path. Something about his headstone struck me as ironic. You will see when you get there. You will need to gather 2 pieces of information at this stage.

E = 3rd digit of Lucian's year of birth

F = 2nd digit of Lucian's year of death

Stage 4

By filling in the blanks, you will have the coordinates for the final. The final should take you to a nearby city park. It should be less than 1 mile to it. You can easily drive to the location.

You are looking for a film canister. Please be gentle with your surroundings. No need to tear anything up while searching. Daylight hours ONLY!

Note: If your children are not leary of cemeteries, the final has a really nice playground area.
