Geocache Description:

Cache site next to an old large Lime Kiln, alongside a working quarry, so don't be alarmed If the earth moves for you [:o].

You can drive very close to the cache site, but you might get pounced on by the locals, as they are up in arms, thinking the owners of the quarry are going to extend it.
Definitely don't go in high-viz jacket, hard-hat or with a clip-board. The old logs make interesting reading.

When I am passing next I shall get a parking waypoint.

Halkyn Mountain is an urban common which means you can walk freely across it. However, please take great care near old mine workings as the common is covered with vertical mineshafts in various stages of repair. Please report any re-opened shafts to the Grosvenor Estate Office at 01244 684400.

Limestone, quarrying & limekilns. The limestone itself was also a valuable commodity and the higher land is dotted with small quarries. Not only was it the most durable building material, but it was crushed and burned in limekilns to produce lime tofertilise acid land and for mortar. There were many kilns in the area––sevenare shown on 19th century maps of Marion Cwm. Most were situated near a quarry, such as the well preserved one at Y Graig, built by Philip Pennant to produce lime for the construction of nearby Nantllys. The compacted lime ash (a by-product) was often used as flooring material for tenants’ cottages

The cache is one of our small round one's sited on the side of a lime kiln. You can drive 100' up to the cache if you pick the correct lane and have a 4Wheel drive vehicle.
NB - watch out for the locals .
