Geocache Description:

This cache is a relatively easy one designed to bring you to this area so you can observe some local weekend activity. It is especially busy here on weekends from April to October when the Vancouver Soaring Association brings in their fleet of three tow planes and nine gliders. They offer training programs and rides for visitors.

Hope is an ideal location for glider flying as a result of westerly winds which blow from the Fraser Valley and rise upon hitting the mountains. Mount Hope is noted for creating strong upward columns of air which can keep a sail plane flying for as long as six and seven hours. Hope airpark is 128 feet above sea level.

Another opportunity to view our breathtaking scenery from the air is with our local helicopter company. They will be actively participating in our annual Hope Flight Fest every June. For more info check out www.hopeflightfest.com
