Urban Solitude
This is NOT AN EASY CACHE
I was wandering around these woods one day and found some amazing
places without too much trouble. I wasn't planning on placing such
a long winded cache, but I couldn't help myself! Just remember that
you are basically in the middle of a City when you are walking
these woods. The final location will certainly remind you are in an
urban area still. It's hard to imagine that there are amazing woods
out there still that nobody uses! This cache is approx. 2km round
trip including stages.
Stage 1: REMOVED See Stage 2
Stage 2 (NOW STAGE 1): Another micro in and around a huge tree.
There are some fox dens around these areas too, so keep and eye and
bring your camera! To get the final from here, keep walking near
the water for a short while, then head off at an angle of about 10
degrees or so (North I believe). You should come across a cool
fort.
Final: It is a straight bushwack about 400m or so to the final. It
may seem like a lot further though! Head towards the fort, then go
towards the top of the hill and the fence. Follow along near the
fence line. When you get to the creek, turn left and go around it
up near the City Yard. Now follow the open area to the hill. Go
down, cross the creek and go up. The final is a small container
with a money theme. Please bring your own pen or
pencil.
When placing this cache I loved the quiet solitude these woods
offered as I went further and further off the beaten path. Enjoy
the walk, but beware this is not an easy cache. Terrain is tough,
especially in the winter, spring and well.. probably all year!
Terrain is rated for winter. If you do this in the spring, please
let me know what it is like!
SOME BUSHWHACKING IS REQUIRED!!
Please note: There is no need to jump any fences and please do not
try and cross the river without using the bridges. No matter how
close you think you are, go and use the bridge! Please do not drive
to get closer to the final as it won't help and entering from that
area will probably get you a trespassing citation and there are
cameras! You can walk there and be in public parkland the whole
time. Enjoy the walk!PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO GET TO THE FINAL VIA
ROADS OR THE HIGHWAY!!
