Geocache Description:

Another attempt to "Save Our Lake"

When the government decided they were going to save our lake they initiated several different programs to accomplish this. Several of the programs were designed to reduce the runoff of phosphorus into the Big O, and one of these was the buyout of some of the dairy farms in the area. Dairies, because of the large number of cattle on a relativly small area, coupled with the fact that these cattle were fed heavily, were/are one of the heaviest producers of phosphorus runoff. By taking these lands out of production, and with a little bit of creative drainage, the runoff is held up long enough for the minerals to be settled out.

On this site was the New-Palm dairy, now long gone and the lands reverted back to nature.

The cache is a magnetic key holder and is available without a hike.
