Working on getting the legs back into shape for an upcoming Grand Canyon hike. Not been doing a lot of hiking the last couple years given schoolwork, but that wrapped up a couple weeks ago. Put in a little over 8 miles, 1500' ascent/descent today at El Corte de Madera Creek. Started at gate CM09, headed down the Virginia Mill trail to the bridge over Lawrence Creek. One side trip up and back on Lawrence Creek trail to retrieve a geocache.

Geocache Description:

A decon can next to the trail in El Corte De Madera Creek OSP.

I know that all these trees are secondary growth, trees and brush that have grown up after all the logging in the area years ago. Still, there is something primal about the woods down this trail. The ferns, the sorrel, the redwoods and buckhorn. Lovely place. I just love hiking here.
