Putah Trail Bends Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Davis Classics: I found a very old container at GZ. I didn't recognize it, but I may have been the one to place it. It was not one of the more recent generations of replacements.

Thant said, the tree that housed the cache is dead and falling to pieces. I can't in good conscience leave a cache there, and I didn't find an appropriate location nearby for the cache. Sadly, I'm archiving this one.

Geocache Description:

Visible from a lovely new trail above the South Fork of Putah. Creek. Trail is easy to walk but too narrow at spots for a wide stroller and often covered in wood chips.

About a month ago UC Davis and Yolo County built this terrific new trail below the levee road but above the flood line of the South Fork of Putah Creek. Near this spot the creek and the trail both make lovely bends and their are great views over the plains and off to the coastal mountains. Great for a visit in the early morning or near sunset when the light picks up the water. I found myself coming back again and again so I found a little piece of local nature and recycled it as a cache. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

But beware! I think this cache has a life of its own. First it gets run over by an ATV. Then I replace it after finding only part of the original container and no log. Then while out attempting to hide another cache I walk by again and find both parts of the original container neatly placed side by side with the new container. If you get levitated off the ground or catapulted across Putah Creek while looking for this cache, I am not responsible!

This is a fragile cache and a fragile area, please be careful:

There is no need to go trampling or climbing trees if you look first.
