This is in the turtlebay area. As you turn onto Auditorium Drive, turn right onto the gravel road. Park at the gate.
Chrysalis Charter School students, teachers and families have been coming to this area for years to observe the winter roosting of the American Robin.
Hundreds of thousands of American Robins have been known to gather in a single roost. The numbers of course is dependent on many factors, such as food availability and weather.
The best time to observe this amazing phenomenon is from December to February. Find an open area near the cache site, sit up your camp chair or sitting pad around 30 minutes before sunset, and be prepared for one of nature’s wonders!
First Finder is welcome to the silva compass. The book placed in the ammo can is a classic of sorts.

I have revisited the cache after many years, and have realized many things have changed! The dirt trails have been paved, markers along the trail, no blackberry grove for the robins to gather in, and no gate to park at! Wonderful changes I must admit. The whole area is a tribute to what Redding can do, and allow access to wonderful riparian habitats. I am not deleting the original cache description for nostalgic reasons! Do watch for poison oak, and don’t feed the mosquitos too much... faunafarm
