Team Donutdog: Archiving this past event. Thanks everyone! I still can't believe we had around 43 geo-teams there [:D]

(If you haven't logged your attendance yet, never fear - it can still be done.)

Geocache Description:

A meet and greet event in Santa Fe!

Come one, come all! We're meeting on Saturday March 10 at 5 pm (has to be early because later there's a cover charge for the live music) to eat, drink, be merry and talk cache. The basic info right now is that we (cachers) will be meeting for some good eats (chow) and beverages if desired (chicken killer!). The posted coordinates are for the existing cache on site (Chicken Killer Revived by Enabler) but of course we will be meeting inside the nearby establishment. One of the nice features of this place is that you pay for your food/drinks up front, so there won't be a check to split. Please see their website at www.santafebrewing.com for info on the offerings.

If you have geocoins/TBs you would like to share for people to "discover", please bring them along. I will be bringing my geocoin collection if I can find a way to transport it :-)

More details to be added as they become available! Please also check out the discussion of this event on the nmgeocaching Events forum.

When you post your "will attend" note, please give an approximate headcount of how many in your group. This will help with the organizing. Thanks!

Come visit NMGeocaching.com for news, information and forums.

UPDATE: SFBC isn't positive about the time, but the live music will probably come on at 8 PM. At that time people would be expected to pay the cover if they want to stay, although I was told we might get a break on it. Instead (if the weather cooperates), some folks will be heading out to do the "Luna Oscura" (GCYA3Q) night cache by wildebus, so please consider joining us for that!

UPDATE #2: I would like to honor HartMan/CatWoman Team and dobroguy at the event for their immense contributions to Santa Fe geocaching (pending attendance). It would be nice if attendees might think about a story they would like to share about their favorite caches by these two teams, a funny happening at one of their caches, etc. Completely optional, of course, but it would be nice. I think everybody has a story about a HM/CW cache! (If you have a great story you want to share but can't attend, feel free to email it to me and I'll read it!) And if you're doing some on that day, you may have a very recent story or brand-new favorite cache to talk about :-)

UPDATE #3: I gotten some excellent suggestions about how to handle the plethora of geocoin discoveries that are sure to happen at this event. If you are bringing coins for people to discover, it would be fantastic if you could make a bunch of copies of a list of your coins with the tracking numbers to give to people who see them so they don't have to write them all down. It will allow for more time chatting and less time getting hand cramps from writing down all the tracking numbers! I have heard that some people like to keep copies of the lists of tracking numbers in the back of their coin binders so that, ideally, people discovering coins will be people who actually saw them (or at least held the binder) That is my personal preference as well, but however you wish to handle facilitating discoveries of your coins is up to you. There will be lots, that's for sure!

UPDATE #4: We put out three new caches on the south side for attendees to have the first crack at. This week (3/5/07) I will email info to those who have posted that they are coming, before the caches go live to everyone. We also replaced another that had gone missing - so that's four new ones for most of you >

5th and final (!) update: SFBC phone # is (505) 424-3333 if you get lost. I will also email my cell # with the emails of new caches.

Food & drink begins at 5 pm, announcements/giveaways/awards will take place between 6 and 6:30 to have the most people there.

Topics:
* new caches emailed on Thurs. (extra info sheets are available), night cache later
* Geocoins and TBs to discover – I have sheets printed out with tracking numbers and others do as well
* Upcoming events: Pancakes with Pobah event in in Alb in April...tealeaf?
* Upcoming events: JL of NM’s TB event in Alb in May...JLofNM?
* New Mexico Challenge, volunteers for county caches...av8ndv8?
* Article in Albuquerque Journal North...HartMan?
* Giveaways: 3-5 small prizes, selected at random
* Honorees: dobroguy and HM/CW

More food & drink! (But not too much - there's a night cache to be done) :-)
