A quick cache and dash on the A70 near Balerno.
If you haven’t already spotted the Balerno shoe tree, it’s well worth a look! Nobody knows how it started, or why the shoes are there, but rumour has it that someone threw some boots out of a truck which landed in the tree, someone else spotted them and added a pair themselves, and now there has been a shoe throwing frenzy! Why not bring a pair yourself?
Apparently, in some parts of the world, to throw shoes into a tree brings good luck, and shoe trees are relatively common in California, Nevada, Michigan and Arkansas.
Cache is a small lock’n’lock. Please be careful when attempting this cache as the A70 is a busy road and there is no pavement. There is a small driveway across from the tree where we managed to park when placing the cache. Probably not a good idea for those with young kids who might run into the road.
LOOK BOTH WAYS WHEN CROSSING - BOTH TIMES!!!
The shoes have gone - but maybe see a glider instead?
