Geocache Description:

This cache is along the National Road, Rt.40 in Kirkersville, Ohio. Along the National road there are milestones that once told travelers the distances between the towns located along this old turnpike.

This cache is located very near one of these milestones. Parking should be no problem, may have muggles about at times. These milestones are great little slice of our history and days gone by.

Small container hid near the mile marker. Has paper log sheet. BRING OWN PENCIL/PEN.

KIRKERSVILLE: founded in 1815 by Thomas Kirker, Governor of Ohio, 1807-1808, and incorporated as a village in 1911, this pike town once had several taverns. President John Quincy Adams dined at Neiswander's Tavern in 1843, fourteen years after leaving the White House. A major fire in March 1905 destroyed all but one of the buildings on the north side of the National Road between 3rd & 4th streets. Two original Interurban (train) depots are located at 172 & 175 E. Main St.

While on the National Road stop in Kirkersville, sit, relax and enjoy Cumberland 236. Love to see some pics at 236.

As always, Please re-hide EXACTLY as found so others can enjoy the hide.

NOTE: PLEASE need to keep tucked away so others may enjoy. May need tweezers to retrieve log.
