Geocache Description:

Cache can be reached from either end of footpath. There is no need to deviate from the footpath. Be careful if approaching from the west, the path runs alongside an electric fence. (The cache is not near the electric fence).

Across the Rea Brook from the cache site can be seen the abandoned Minsterley Branch line.

This railway line which ran nine and a half miles from Shrewsbury via Cruckmeole Junction near Hanwood to the stations at Plealey Road, Pontesbury and finally the terminus at Minsterley.

The creation of the line enabled milk to be transported by rail from the large creamery and lead ore to be transported from the nearby mines at Snailbeach. If you approach the cache site from the east, you may be able to see the remains of Malehurst Mill, where lead ore was crushed and processed before being transported away.

At one time the terminus in Minsterley boasted a milk wharf, goods shed, cattle and horse docks and numerous sidings.

The line was built as a joint GWR/LNWR line and opened on 14th February 1862 and closed in May 1967.

The cache is a medium sized tupperware container.
