This cache is located in Moss Park at the beginning of the Bear Island Nature Trail. Moss Park is in the Orange County Park system.
If you are thinking about a cache in Orange Co. FL parks there are a few things you should know.
1) You DO need permission in advance and there are specific guidelines you must follow.
2) They do not look so favorably toward camouflaged metal boxes hidden on gov't property. Especially after 9/11 this was a sensitive issue.
3) The cache is supposed to be in a clear plastic container (clear on bottom is OK hopefully)
4) Park Staff can log onto geocaching.com just as easily as you can. They do have their own GPS units and they track down and remove unapproved caches.
That being said, I hope you enjoy your visit to this very nice park. We have been here in the past for family camping as well as with the Scouts. It is also a nice place for a picnic. Now you can also hunt for a geocache here.
There is a $3 entry fee and the gates close at night.
BEAR ISLAND Cache should not require any bushwacking. Just make sure it is well out of site and you are not spotted by 37 cub scouts. It contains the usual trade items.
The park is very quiet during the work week but tends to be busy on the weekends.
My phone GPS averaging app recorded 75 points so hopefully the coords are fairly accurate. The hint will make your search a bit easier.
