Originally the Visitor Center at the then state owned Saratoga Battlefield, the Blockhouse is a replica of a French and Indian War fort but it was constructed on the site of John Neilson's barn, used by Benedict Arnold during the Battles of Saratoga. In the mid-1970's, the Blockhouse was airlifted onto private land due to its insignificance to the Saratoga Battles. Then in the mid-1990's, the village of Stillwater was finally able to have Blockhouse Park built and the building moved here. Now the center point for the village, the Blockhouse houses a small museum and gift shop. They have children's workshops and reenacter encampments several times each summer. Read some of the names on the sidewalk.
I would suggest that you don't try to attempt this cache at night because I recently heard that its a cop watch spot.
The hide location has migrated a bit so the title may be a tad misleading. If you approach from the parking from the Blockhouse and walk the path, then you will have a better understanding. Where it is currently hidden was at the end of this path, just about on the ground until it was moved.
