Nukolii Beach is a 2 mile
long part of a line of beaches running from Wailua Bay in the
north, to Hanama’ulu Bay in the south. The beach itself runs
from Lydgate Park in the North to a Parking Lot south of the Hilton
(Radisson) Hotel.
It is a popular spot for ATV and 4 wheel Drive access to the Beach
and surrounding Dunes. Thus watch for Muggles!
It is a beautiful long stretch of Beaches to walk, enjoy the
seascape and watch for Whales.
An interesting note is that many Maps show a ship wreck off
shore at about N22 00.881, W 159 20.064. One possibility is that it
could be the "Okanagan" a bald-headed four masted schooner of 721
tons and 950 M capacity. It was built in 1895 and was wrecked on
Ahukini Point December 24, 1919. However we can not find any
confirmation of this or location of the "Okanagan". If anyone finds
more information, please let us know!
Be aware the ocean off the
beach has very strong currents and thus it is not normally a safe
beach for Swimming!
Small note on cache
