Geocache Description:

A Sea Cave with an added bonus.

Gadao’s Cave is a Sea cave formed in the Mariana Limestone on the north shore of Inarajan Bay. Physical erosion of the limestone wall by constant crashing waves formed this cave over time. Structural weaknesses in the limestone erode quicker than the rest of the wall helping define the shape and size of the cave. It is possible that large storm waves sped up its creation, due to the immense pressure they exert on the shore.
Access to Gadao’s Cave is best reached from Rt. 4. Turn east on Chagamin Lagu Ave. located just north of Inarajan Bay. Follow that until you reach Chalan Guefan where you will turn right. After about .1 miles you’ll come across a road to the right that heads down the hill through the jungle. Park off to the side and start your journey by heading down this road.
You will need to walk on the limestone shelf to access the cave so Flip/Flops are discouraged.
If it has recently rained the limestone can be slippery so be cautious.

As an additional bonus you will find ancient Chamorro pictographs inside Gadao’s Cave. These drawings are thought to illustrate an encounter between Chief Gadao of Inarajan and Chief Malaguana of Tumon.

To log this cache email me the mineral most likely used in creating the pictographs. Also download a picture of your group at/in the cave if possible. Due to a large amount of tourists visiting the cave you will inevitably find some trash in the area. Please take it with you when you leave. Thanks and have fun!
