Geocache Description:

This series is thanks to Dick and Jan (Saltdean Seekers) as it was thier Walkabout series (click here for details) that spawned the idea.

How many times when out walking or cacheing have we come across a pond or Dew pond that seems to be asking to become a Cache?.

So armed with pre-prepared micro, it is easy, see site, hide micro, record co-ordinates, get home and enter listing details.

This series will consist of a mixture of:-
caches in their own right
caches situated on the way to other caches
cache and dash types.
In many cases you can decide which type you want it to be, and may want to look at your maps to decide before setting off.

Cache is a 35 mm film canister containing logbook, please bring your own pencil.

#8 Unnamed Dewpond on the South Downs.

This is a concrete lined dew pond, and in itself is unspectacular, but is well worth visiting for the views. and lack of buildings.
(Estimate how many square miles of Sussex you can see from its location, and how many buildings.!!).

The pond was not very full, despite all the recent rain, and I wonder if it has a leak and will dry up in the summer.

Today, 8 March, I noticed several masses of frog spawn, and there were several Skylarks in evidence both at the cache site and whilst walking to it.

Well worth the effort..Enjoy.
