Geocache Description:

One of the Tree Trail series – see #1 for full details

Prunus padus; Bird Cherry is native to Europe (including Britain) and Asia. It carries small, white, almond-scented flowers in May then in July and August, black fruits which though bitter to taste, may be used to flavour brandy and wines.

Temporarily leaving the public footpath at a large oak, follow the smaller path through the woods to NW corner of the recreation field, home to the Weald XI and the Weald football team.
There are two examples of Bird Cherry just a small hop over a (seasonal) brook – look up and you’ll see evidence of woodpeckers.
This is a small cache.

Head back to the public footpath to continue the series.
