Geocache Description:

One of the Tree Trail series – see #1 for full details

Quercus robur ; English or Pedunculate Oak is the better known of our two native species, the other being Quercus petrea , the Sessile Oak.
An extremely long lived tree, valuable for timber, especially in the past when much of Britain was covered in oak forest.
The fruits, acorns, are carried on long stalks or peduncles, hence the alternative common name. The acorns of the Sessile Oak are not stalked.

Located on The Greensand Way, a long distance path of 108 miles between Haslemere, Surrey and Ham Street, Kent. The route, in many places, offers walkers unparalleled views across the Weald to the South as well as extensive views toward the North Downs.
