Geocache Description:

A relatively strenuous hike up the escarpment. Give yourself 2 or 3 hours to hike to the cache and back.

The Fire Tower is a well known hike in Gatineau Park. Just follow the Luskville Falls trail up the Eardley Escarpment. There are plenty of trail markers and sign posts along the way. You gain about 300 m of altitude in the first kilometer so it's quite a hike. It's certainly possible with no special equipment although good hiking boots and a walking stick will help your knees on the way down. You can make a bit of a loop trail out of it since the trail splits in 2 for a while. You can also approach the fire tower from the other side of the park on the cross country ski trails or mountain bike trails in the summer.

The fire tower is a popular spot to stop and take a break so there are usually a few muggles lurking about. The cache is located a bit off the beaten trail so you'll have to walk through some snow in the winter. I've seen a number of snow shoe tracks in the area so that is always an option.

There are a couple of other caches in the area (not all winter friendly). Check out GCP7GX and GCTN8X.

Good luck and enjoy the hike. It's a beautiful hike anytime of the year. Enough people hike it in the winter so that the path is fairly easy to walk on.
