While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for the cache owner and block other cachers from placing a cache in the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can’t do so forever. The given time frame expired more than two months ago, so this cache listing is now archived, so that someone else can place a cache in the area, and geocachers can once again enjoy visiting this location. Also, if it hasn’t been done already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

If the owner wants it reopened, send me an e-mail and I’ll be happy to unarchive the cache listing if it still satisfies the requirement/guidelines.

NORSK
Nygårdsparken ble anlagt etter eget initiativ av legene Joachim Georg Wiesener (1843-88) og Klaus Hanssen (1844-1914) som i 1880 stiftet Nygaards Parkselskab. De to legene hadde engasjert seg sterkt mot folkesykdommen tuberkulose og vært varme talsmenn for friluftsliv og friidrett, og de hadde medisinske og sosiale mål med parken.De kjøpte kjøpte i 1880 hele strekningen fra Museet til Nygårdsbroen, og en tredjedel av eiendommen ble utlagt til byggetomter. Opparbeidelsen tok til i 1882 og ble fullført i 1885. Parkselskabet stod for driften til kommune overtok i 1947. Parken har tjent mange funksjoner, bl.a. som utstillingsområde (parken var en flott ramme for Landsutstillingen i 1898), og har vært brukt til konserter og forskjellige underholdningsarrangementer. Parken har også tidligere gitt plass til biologisk stasjon, selpark og akvarium.

Nygårdsparken er utformet i tilnærmet engelsk landskapsstil, etter en konkurranse vunnet av den danske gartneren S. Lund Leiberg. Den har buete spaserveier, krumme dammer og 3 broer med høye spenn.
Varmekjære løvtrær trives særlig godt i parken. Alm, bøk og parklind er dominerende, mer eksotiske arter har ikke alltid overlevd, men kamtsjatkabjørk og Cotoneaster frigida har visstnok sitt eneste voksested i Norge her.

Dessverre har øvre del av parken blitt okkupert av sprøytenarkomane. Cachen ligger gjemt i nedre del av parken.

ENGLISH
 Nygårdsparken was constructed by the two doctors Joachim Georg Wiesener and Klaus Hansen in 1880. The two doctors were heavily engaged in the fight against tuberculosis and spoke warmly about outdoor life and athletics and hence had medical and social purposes with the park. The work on the park started in 1882 and was completed in 1885.

The park is formed as an English park after a competition won by the Danish gardener S. Lund Leiberg. It has curved pathways, arched ponds and high arched bridges.

Unfortunately the upper part of the park is occupied by drug addicts. The cache is hidden in the lower part of the park.
