Geocache Description:

You could be in for a long wait, but you're sure to find plenty do to around here.

The railway was the catalyst which allowed Coonawarra to boom. Safe & easy transport to port allowed wine, wool and other produce to make the journey to England. John Riddoch, founder of the Coonawarra fruit colony belted the first peg for this railway and it opened in 1897. From the landing you can see Riddoch's winery (now Wynn's) which he built to support the infant fruit colony, and the tiny but lively township of Coonawarra. Fear not, the no train has been through in a couple of decades!
