Update: 1/5/08: Had to move the final due to changes in the area. It's not quite as fun now, you used to have to climb a tree, but at least it's still active.
This is a short, easy multi, dedicated to my aunt Phoebe. While visiting her grave site I was inspired to leave a cache. For many years, Phoebe was a nurse in Casa Grande and Florence. She and uncle Al were smarter than me and somehow figured out how to take summers off to go fishing in Oregon. I didn’t get to see her much as I lived in Colorado, but loved her visits because she was a hoot. She would amuse my brother and me with tall and real tales. One real tale was about taking care of farm workers that had been poisoned with mercury from crop dusting.
I like old cemeteries, and have a collection of photos of unusual headstones from around the country. This particular cemetery has the biggest collection of homemade headstones I’ve ever seen. If you like that sort of thing and have the time, take a look around.
The coordinates will take you to her gravestone. I just have to note that the year of her birth given is not accurate – she was born 5 years earlier – didn’t want Al to know that she was older than him..
To derive the final coordinates from the posted coordinates:
From north subtract: (the second digit of her birth year minus the last digit), then add the first and third digits.
To west add: the first three digits of her death year added together
She would still like this cache.
