Geocache Description:

An micro cache located by the Bilsington Obelisk or Cosway Monument in the small village of Bilsington.

Bilsington is an ancient parish that is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086. It is located partly on Romney Marsh and partly on the low hills to the north of the marsh.

The Cosway Monument was built in 1835 in memory of Sir Richard Cosway, who was killed in a coaching accident. Sir Richard was a much-loved local benefactor, a wealthy landowner and Lord of the Manor of Bilsington. The Monument is about 52 feet high and is built from Kentish ragstone.

***August 2013 Update - cache now replaced in new, slightly bigger container but clue still relevant. There is room for geocoins and small travel bugs. Please bring your own pen to sign log sheet. Please ensure you hide well as exposure to the elements and farming equipment is possible!***
