Geocache Description:

The coordinates may be out a bit due to tree cover but I hope I have compensated for this with the clue. You cannot do this cache from the path but you don't have to leave by more than a couple metres.

The cache is a large container placed close to where there used to be a railway junction between the mainline (Manchester-Huddersfield) and the branch line to Delph (known as the Delph Donkey).

The proprietor of a second-hand bookshop in Uppermill told me a tragic story about the nearby viaduct. There used to be a train station at the end of the viaduct and one night in fog a train halted on the viaduct waiting to enter the station. A passenger, believing the train had arrived at the station, stepped off the train and fell over the side of the viaduct. If you look at black and white photographs of the viaduct from a certain period you will see that there is a railing along the top of the viaduct which was put in place after the incident. With the removal of the station the rail was removed.
