Suggested start point N52 06 810 W004 05 280 although there are 2 other entrances onto this footpath that will lead you to the cache.
This route to the cache takes you down the edge of the Fynnonbedr Stream where it joins the river Teifi.
If you carry on, this path will take you full circle and back into Lampeter town.
Please take care at the rivers edge and when retrieving the cache, especially if you have young children with you.
On your route you will pass the ruins of Peterwell an eighteenth century manor house, now hidden by trees West of the path.
At one time, described as one of the great houses of Wales, the house fell into disrepair, after its last owner, Sir Herbert Lloyd died in 1769.
Its demise was hastened by the weight of the roof garden, but it was thought locally to have been the result of a curse, cast on the stones of a previous house, used in the building of Peterwell.
Herbert Lloyd tricked George III into granting him a baronetcy, and served as MP for Cardigan from 1761-68, also acting as a Justice of the Peace in the town.
He is remembered as a tyrannical man who let no one get in the way of what he wanted.
You will be passing an area where Sion Phillip home once stood.
Herbert Lloyds place in history as a cad was assured due to his treatment of small holder Sion Phillip, who farmed this small area of land with his wife, between Peterwell and the River Teifi.
Herbert wanted the land, but Sion Phillip refused to sell.
Herbert claimed that a valuable black Ram had been stolen.
A few nights later Herbert arranged for the ram to be lowered down Sion Phillip's chimney.
After issuing a warrant he called for the local constable and searched the house.
The crime of sheep stealing was a capital offence in those days, so using this as a bargaining tool, he tried to blackmail Sion Phillip to sell his land.
After another refusal, Sir Herbert ordered that Sion Philip should be marched to Cardigan in the snow for trial.
He was found guilty by a jury hand picked by Lloyd and hanged outside Cardigan in April 1763.
This was but one of many of his scams, if you’re interested in the history of Peterwell, Lampeter and even Cardiganshire then we can highly recommend the book Peterwell by Bethan Phillips.
