Geocache Description:

Tetbury. Easy walk. Convenient car park and pub at potential start point.

Regular size cache covered in camouflage material. Contains logbook & pen, small trinkets and as we find them Travel Bugs and Geocoins.

This is an easy walk from the railway yard car park near to the Royal Oak pub. Follow the old railway branch line (now a path and cycle track) heading towards Kemble. The trailhead is a signpost directing you to Herd Lane. Cross over and rise up into Berkeley Wood and on to Preston Park which was the ancient common and has been described as Tetbury's lung. Keep to the high ground and look out for the cattle. There are plenty of benches along the path for you to stop and enjoy the countryside. The old railway branch line to Kemble Junction follows the low ground to your right and was in use from 1889 to 1964. When you reach the 'The Boys Seat' the view to your front contains the cache. The spring near the footbridge is known as the Worwell and is one of the sources of the Bristol Avon. Follow the hints to find the cache and return along the railway path or Herd Lane to enjoy the town of Tetbury. If you enjoyed this short walk visit the Tourist Information office and ask about Country Walks Around Tetbury.
