Geocache Description:

2015 Update: The parking area and much of the woods were clearcut in the spring of 2015, but the area where this cache is placed is as beautiful as always.

This is one of our favorite hidden places along Lake Thurmond. Ridge Road West is property managed by the Army Corps of Engineers, surrounding Lake Thurmond. Permission has been granted by the Corps for this cache. Please use caution -- this area is a hunting area in the fall. Wear safety orange between October and December.

Be sure to continue on Ridge Road after the pavement ends to the parking area. There is a gate near the entrance where the pavement ends. This gate is normally open. Unless this gated is locked closed you can access the area. Sometimes people may close the gate inadvertently. Parking coordinates are N 33 39.325, W 082 21.428. There is no defined trail to the cache. There are many paths but some are easier than others; no wacking of bushes is required. We think the most beautiful path is the one along the creek. You can enter the woods by the interior gate at N33 39.357 W 082 21.422 to take this route. Take your time and enjoy the place.
