THIS IS ONE OF LOUISVILLE'S OLDEST CACHES
In ways, it presents a glimpse into the brief history of geocaching because when it was placed in July of 2001, it was the "typical" cache. There were no other caches along this trail. It requires a nice hike, occasionally a creek crossing, and a fun climb.
There is a regular logsheet inside the clearly marked ammo box. Also, feel free to sign one of the playing cards which served as a temporary "logsheet" for several years..
BRIDGES TO THE PAST is located approximately 15 miles south of Louisville just off Dixie Highway. The area is heavily wooded and hilly, but the trails are relatively easy. There are several old stone bridges, railroad trestles, a small cave, and a falls in the area.
TIOGA FALLS TRAILHEAD has a parking area approximately 1/2 mile east of Dixie Highway on Louisville National Turnpike Road (which is the eastern extension of 31W Business Route). The cache is near the TIOGA FALLS TRAIL. It is no longer a loop trail. Also, the historical railroad bridge at the parking lot has now been replaced and the trail beyond the falls with all the other bridges is no longer maintained.
SHORT CLIMB REQUIRED. THE LAST FEW FEET ARE NOT FOR CHILDREN. PLEASE BE CAREFUL.
Begin your search by approaching the big tree near the rock face and look UP. There is an easier route.
