This is the 3rd annual event at Muddy Run Park. If it goes as well as the first two, it will be a great day of fun, friendship, and caching. The posted coordinates are for the main gate. The event will be held at the campground pavilion (the coordinates for the pavilion are listed as additional waypoints). The event will start at 9:00am (May 19), but I will be holding an informational session about using a GPS and Geocaching at 10:00am.
Muddy Run Park has everything. It includes a huge beautiful lake, playgrounds, fishing, hiking, a large campground, a nice snack bar, and a camp store. Several of us will be camping at the park Friday night and we will get together around a campfire for some fun. We will get together sometime around 9:00, then try to do lunch at 12:30, so everyone can do their own thing around the park before and after the picnic. I will get a few door prizes and maybe provide something that is only available at the event. There is a website at www.muddyrunpark.com phone number (717) 284 - 4325
Several caches already exist in the park, but there is a large region that is “untapped” by geocachers and I am going to try to secure permission to place some new ones. I will bring a laptop and some cables to download waypoints. Muddy Run has been extremely accommodating to geocachers, so please abide by park regulations and use common sense. Dogs are allowed on a leash, kids are always welcome.
I will provide hot dogs and buns, but I ask that everyone else bring something to share. I will try to keep an up to date list on the cache page, but you can refer to other peoples’ posts also to see what is coming and what we need.
