Geocache Description:

The co-ordinates above, are not for the cache, but for the car park at Bagshot station.

This multi-cache starts from Bagshot station, which is close to my SideTracked - Bagshot cache and takes you through the village of Bagshot, past my Drinking Fountain and Troughs 026 - Bagshot and Church Micro 186...Bagshot - St.Anne's Church caches and finishes in Swinley Forest.

The distance from the station to the cache and back, is just under 2 miles. The path in the forest may be a little muddy at times.

Bagshot has a number of pubs, restaurants, take-aways and sandwich bars, so if you feel a little hungry or thirsty during this walk, there are a number of options along the way. Please note that this walk involves crossing some busy roads and so I have suggested some suitable pedestrian crossings.

The first clue can actually be found at the entrance to the station …

N 51 21.868 W 000 41.323

… which states that trains to Ascot leave from platform A. (If it helps, the platform closest to the road is platform 1 and the platform over the bridge is platform 2).

Walk in front of the station and take the footpath (signposted Bagshot (Centre)) that goes parallel to the railway line. At the end of the footpath, you need to turn right and take another footpath to the right of the stream – the Windle Brook. But before you do, count the number of arches in the railway viaduct …

N 51 21.693 W 000 41.381

There are B arches, although since setting the cache, the trees have grown, making it difficult to see all of the arches and so if you need another clue, the plate on the wall indicates that this is bridge 2B/7.

At the end of the footpath to the right of the stream, cross the road – there is a pedestrian crossing close by – and walk towards the pub ...

N 51 21.731 W 000 41.480

… which is called the C Mariners.

Turn right up the High Street and you will notice a memorial ...

N 51 21.697 W 000 41.544

… which states that it is DE miles to Farnham and that it took Lapenotiere FG hours to travel from Falmouth to London.

Walk up the main street (also called the High Street), in the direction of Basingstoke and Farnham, according to the memorial.

You will need to cross the High Street, so you may wish to use the pedestrian crossing at …

N 51 21.667 W 000 41.608

You will also need to cross the A30, so you may wish to use the pedestrian crossing at …

N 51 21.587 W 000 41.696

Close by, at …

N 51 21.603 W 000 41.708

… there is an address and the street number of this address is HJ.

Walk up Church Road and there is a gate post by the entrance to the St. Annes’s church car park …

N 51 21.621 W 000 41.958

… with the number KL.

Continue along Church Road for a short distance, before turning right along Vicarage Road. Just after the road becomes a bridleway, go through the iron gate on the right. Go straight on for just a few paces, before turning right along the footpath. Turn left at the T-junction.

The location of the cache can be found by substituting the letters in the following code, for the numbers revealed by the answers to the clues.

N 51 21.(H)(J)(G-H) W 000 42.(C-F)(A+D+E-B)(L-K)

If you have a little more time, you may wish to explore more of Swinley Forest.
