We have all got stories on our first find. Some of us went back more then once to find it and needed a clue.
This is my story:
Tuesday, March 09, 2004 I’ve had a GPS for years; got one in the 90’s. Well one day I took it to work and it sat on my desk; I was a Systems Administrator at Fairplex in Pomona. Well Lovesreward (She worked there also) came in to my office with a problem with her computer and saw the GPS sitting there, and asked if I was a geocacher; not knowing what that was, I said no. Well a bit later after fixing her computer she explained the game to me and said go to www.geocaching.com and take a look at it.
Later that day I signed up for an account and looked for one near my house. I found (GCFE18) **Donut Star** by BullCrab, loaded the cords a few days later and went looking for and couldn’t find it. Over the next few weeks I went back a few more times and couldn’t seem to find it anywhere. (I knew nothing of a lamppost hide and thought to myself this is dumb and I’m done with this game.)
April 21, 2004 A group of co-workers were meeting at a local margarita place for some drinks. Well after talking to Lovesreward about how I couldn’t find it, she laughed and said after were done drinking we would head over and find a few and she’d help me find this one. Well a few too many and we were on our way.
After we stumbled to 0,0, I showed her where I had looked and I leaned and sat on the cache. She then told me that I was right on it. I turned around and made my first grab as I thought to myself, WOW THIS IS A REALLY COOL HIDING SPOT! We did three caches that night and I got the hang of how it’s done. After I got home I logged the finds and forgot about the game ‘til Oct 28, 2005 when I was bored and looked up another cache around here to hunt for.
The rest is history……. Well at, least in my mind.
