Geocache Description:

NEXT FINDER-please bring a baggie and a dry log sheet. THANK YOU. Short hike/scramble from Highway 1

Nathaniel Owings was a famous architect and, with his wife Margaret, an important coastal and redwood conservationist. This lovely canyon, home to perhaps the most southern coast redwood tree group, honors his contributions to the incomparable Big Sur Coast. You can see the large named memorial sign from the highway.

This is just a few minutes' walk from the parking area but the trail is uneven with moderate drops.

Because reception is difficult, walk to an open flat area with a couple of small fallen logs. As you look toward the waterfall cascade on your left, the coords point to a clump of small bay trees about 15' tall (6 living trees and 2 stumps). Cross the small sidecreek coming in from your right and look for an 8"X1" cylindrical container, cammo'd, hanging about eye level. I will post photos to help.

Sit for a while in the open area, enjoying the sound of the water and the beautiful redwood grove.
