Being a very popular swimming hole and picnic area many of the locals as well as others that visit this area regularly stop here for a swim. I've seen people of all ages and all walks of life wading around in the water at one time or another. Can get a little crowded sometimes in the warmer months. Yet they all seem to get along and take the time to clean up when they leave keeping this area well maintained. Some even take the time to add just one more rock to the dam that has been built to help hold back the water.

Just below the rock dam on the same side as the parking area is Blue Hole Spring. Groundwater from the surrounding area seeps to the surface thru the cracks in the rock and flows out the side of the streambank here. It can be seen by finding the small black pipe that someone has placed there.

Bring a picnic lunch and spend some time enjoying and exploring this area. And in those hot summer months surely bring your swim suits and take a dip. The kids will love it. You may just as well.

And for those licensed fishermen, Blue Hole Creek from the confluence of Gary Run to its mouth at Fall Run is Approved Trout Waters Open to Year Round Fishing. You can view the Regulations here.

At times in the summer months there can be quite a few muggles in the area of Blue Hole so the cache has been placed 'beyond the Blue Hole' on up along Gary Run. You may choose one of two ways to the cache. The easier way up the tram road or for those more adventerous cachers there is a small but faint trail up along Gary Run. Add another half star or so if hiking up along Gary Run as this way has a few water hazards but makes for a lot more interesting and scenic of a hike and hunt. The choice is yours. It's just a short hike either way on up to the cache.

Cache is an ammo can. Please trade fairly and rehide well.

* Good Luck and as always Be Safe *

DIRECTIONS: Take Rt.653 east from Normalville to the other side of the village of Scullton and turn onto Covered Bridge Road. Left onto Fall Run Road and continue approx. 1.7 miles to where Blue Hole Road (unmarked) intersects to the left. If you cross a small bridge and see Gary Road on your left you've gone too far. It will be the gravel road back before the bridge. Follow your GPS on up the hill to the parking area. There is a wooden sign post here pointing the way to Blue Hole.

This cache was set up with help of the younger Skwerls. They enjoy visting Blue Hole and have quite a time swimming here in the warmer months so they wanted others to come and see and enjoy the area as well. It's only a .17 mile hike up to the cache from Blue Hole so should be a Kid Friendly/Family cache but of course everyone is welcome. So stop by and enjoy the area and in the warmer months spend some time swimming or even fishing at Blue Hole.

CACHE SPOILER PHOTO
We've added this photo due to the GPS signal at the cache area. With all the tree cover it seems to be a little harder to locate than we thought. We brought you here hoping for you to spend more time enjoying Blue Hole and the area than to wander around these woods looking for our cache. Parents, I know how young children can be when they don't find a cache quickly. For this reason we've added this photo to help you out. It was taken some months ago but with this and the hint, finding the cache should be a little easier. Good luck.
