Tirgan viewpoint is located on the eastern side of Slieve Gallion overlooking Moneymore, Magherafelt and great views over Lough Neagh with Slemish Mountain clearly visible in the distance and on a clear day further on to the Mournes. It has a picnic area and at one time an information board which has been destroyed by vandals and never has been replaced as yet.
The road carries on up to a radio mast which is not always accesible as the gate is sometimes locked preventing access. We found the best way to access the road to the viewpoint is to watch for the sign for Carndaisy Glen and Slieve Gallion on the A29 just out of Moneymore and turn off at N54°41.984 W006°40.335 and follow the road to the viewpoint. Cache is a 1.4L tab lock box with the usual assortment of swops.
