Geocache Description:

Located near an old disused rail bridge.

Located on the Western side of the beautiful village of Gainford, this cache will take you on part of the old disused railway that once ran through the village. Some of the supporting infrastructure can still be seen today. Many of the larger houses were built in connection with the old rail industry.
The Teesdale way runs very close to this cache and through a triangulation of pubs in the village, to not visit all 3 would be rude!!
The cache is located on the western edge of the old disused rail bridge that crosses the River Tees. If you look south once you are on the bridge, youll see the second of two structures.
There are ample designated parking places along the A67 but beware this is a very busy road!

Please feel free to share any other history on the old line, should you be a spotter!

The container is a black gaffer taped plastic tub waterproofed further in a green plastic sleeve.
