BY POPULAR DEMAND, WE
RETURNED TO THE SHORES OF LAKE ZOAR FOR THIS TWO-DAY EVENT IN
WESTERN CONNECTICUT.
OUT OF AREA AND OUT OF STATE CACHERS WERE WELCOMED !
Located in
Kettletown State Park, this event is sure to be
the biggest ever seen in this area. Bring your canoe or kayak and
search for water caches or cross the river and search for caches in
Paugussett State Park. We will also be setting caches in nearby
Southford Falls State Park,
just up the road.

There are several ways to get there for you locals. But for
out-of-towners, I would suggest getting of Rt. 84 at Exit
15, follow the brown, then the green signs to Kettletown
State Park (Kettletown Rd.) to Georges Hill Road (N.41°26.781
W.73°11.324). Follow road to park entrance (N.41°25.817
W.73°12.079).
AS ALWAYS, WE STRIVE TO GET BIGGER
AND BETTER THAN EVER...AND WE DID.

BIG CAMPFIRE SAT. NIGHT. We gathered by the water's edge and
listened to music by Broken Promise, Unplugged while the
kids sat around the fire making and eating smoors. And perhaps the
highlight of the evening between some skits with the kids, was
Planet's self written solo. We were in stitches. And she is quite a
singer too.

EDITORIAL: After sitting at the
registration table for a while signing people in, I looked up to
see if things were getting under way....and to my great pleasure I
saw a Jamboree going on. Grills were being fired up, tables
were being filled with food, travel bugs were piling up and being
distributed, and forms were being handed out and fees collected
while I did nothing but write down names, and all this under the
cover of our giant circus tent which was procured by
Juliebeans. The morning shower passed quickly leaving us a
great day for caching and socializing.
Without a doubt the success of this event must be attributed to
the outstanding performance of the committees that ran it. And even
that could not have been accomplished without the number of
volunteers who stepped up to the bat to help out. From help at the
registration and travel bug tables, to cooking and clean up help,
to donations to the raffle, to some awesome caches being set for
the event it was a group effort and, in my opinion, an
outstanding performance by all.
I saw only two areas that need some work for next time: The
rangers had to ask us several times to leash all dogs and to move
cars off the road. Let's face it, we are getting bigger and bigger
and we need to find a better way to manage the cars. Perhaps folks
could drop off their items and then carpool to the lot at the top
of the hill to the beach. Does anyone have a golf cart? We could
make it a loggable travel bug... you would have to ride in it to
the remote parking area or the campsites in order to log it. We
might also want to consider a Coin Table as a separate entity from
the Travel Bug table. Another great help would be a Raffle
committee. I need someone with some pull and knowledge of how to
procure donations from local or large companies of such items as
GPS, radios and camping gear. I have not had much luck with
that.
Anyway, as you can see, I am already planning for next year as I
have seen by the logs that many of you want to know the date right
now so you can get a camp site. Next year I would like to see us
book the entire park. Now that would be an accomplishment! I will
do what I can to get an early start.
Keep posting those pictures...they will be up on the poster
boards next year. And if anyone wants more trackable coins please
email me. I would like to get them out to attendees before I put
them on the forums.
