Greater Volusia Tennis League, Racquet Tennis Center
18 years ago this was a great tennis club and my home base for the GVTL. The good times lasted about 5-6 more years then management changed, and the club started to change as well. About 10 years later things had changed so much it was no longer the fun place I knew, and my wife and I left for another club. When I played here, I had permission but now no one knows me and I moved the cache out of the parking lot onto the adjacent main road.
The Greater Volusia Tennis League, GVTL, is an adult tennis league for tennis club members in Volusia and southern Flagler Counties. The Racquet Tennis Center, or RTC, in New Smyrna Beach is my club and consequently rates a large cache as well as number one in what will be a series of caches highlighting the GVTL member clubs. There are about 20 clubs that participate with about 1500 players in the league. About half a dozen active levels of play for both men and women are provided as well as several mixed doubles leagues. Play is mostly doubles as court time at member clubs can be at a premium.
