This cache will take you off the beaten track to the Mt Basalt Environmental Reserve which features an interesting rock formation.
The reserve consists of two hills. Two paths from the car park and picnic tables take you past the first hill and the cache is located at the base of the second hill. The real treasure of this area is at the top of the second hill. If you are up to the climb, the second hill is well worth the effort as you will be rewarded with an interesting rock formation where you can sit and take in the spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. ***WARNING*** If you choose to climb the second hill with children, keep them close to you as there are steep sides and on one side there are large loose rocks.
