Greater Volusia Tennis League, Ormond Tennis Center
This one has been muggled once and I really want to keep it as I have lots of location constaints here. It's a slightly camoed, well hidden film canister at the base of the NO DUMPING sign. Please use your best STEALTH and rehide well. It's not like it's in the bushes at the MacDonald's entrance so it shouldn't be that tough. However there is activity at the church and church school near by so try to avoid that.
The Greater Volusia Tennis League, GVTL, is an adult tennis league for tennis club members in Volusia and southern Flagler Counties. The Ormond Tennis Center is a city owned tennis club. Tucked in a historic section of Ormond Beach, it can be easily missed, but it has fine Hartru courts and nice landscaping, better than most city courts anywhere. There are about 20 clubs that participate with about 1500 players in the league. About half a dozen active levels of play for both men and women are provided as well as several mixed doubles leagues. Play is mostly doubles as court time at member clubs can be at a premium.
Because of the proximity to other caches, the location is just barely on the back of the property. With very little land to work with, hiding spots are limited. However it is not the purpose of this series to create difficult hide, but to showcase the member clubs of the GVTL. Take a minute to go down the walkway through the courts and see how well the city and club worked together to create a fine tennis facility. Cache is a camoed film canister with a FTF $1 coin. Sometimes the kids from the church school use this area for outdoor games so that might not be a good time to grab the cache. Good parking on the road one block south of Granada.
