randallh: I disabled this because of nearby construction. It doesn't look like they will be done anytime soon. Time to say goodbye to this classic cache.

Geocache Description:

This is a 4-part multi/puzzle cache. Each of the first three stages has a physical element that contains a puzzle that must be solved. You do not have to have read the book to solve this one. Hint, don't be a "slave to the needle" between stages 2 and 3. You should expect the whole adventure to take about an hour to complete. Total walking distance is about one mile round-trip.

Dear Cacher,

If you have ever heard the question, “why climb a mountain,” and in answer heard “because it was there” you well know the insanity of people, which here means that any animal would have more sense than to climb a mountain just because it was there. Caching has much to do with the same idea. But instead of climbing a mountain because it was there, you are climbing a mountain because there is a minuscule box full of worthless trinkets atop it.

If you were hoping for a pleasant drive in the country followed by a sunny, bright and cheerful hike, then you will be sorely disappointed.

As you know this is the fourth cache in the Series of Unfortunate Caches and, if possible, this cache is the most odious, gray and thorn-filled trip of all. If you enjoy plucking thorns from your skin then pack your backpack with safety supplies, including gum, band aids, and the occasional book, and trundle your way through the rough country to the cache, which here means a box full of junk, only for the purpose of saying ‘I found it.’ If you are insisting on continuing on this horrorific journey in memory of the Baudelaire orphans, instead of staying home in front of the television watching brain numbing shows that are pointless and dull, then there is nothing I can say to dissuade you.

With all due respect

LS

Everything you need to solve this cache, except for your ingenuity and pencil and paper has been provided. You will not need to disassemble anything. As always, please return all stages to the way you found them. The only trade items are in the final stage.

Special thanks to NVGreenGecko and the DAK Girls.
