Lone Pine! There's The Museum of Lone Pine Film History here, it's the starting point for Mt. Whitney and there's an airport across the road from here.
Located in the beautiful California's Owens Valley, Lone Pine is home to a sleepy airport and some of the world's best soaring conditions. To the west is the breathtaking Sierra Nevada mountain range, including Mt. Whitney, the highest peak in the continental US. To the east is the 100 mile White/Inyo range, widely recognized as one of the strongest lift-producing mountain ranges in the world.
