Geocache Description:

THE CACHE IS NOT AT THE POSTED COORDINATES!! The posted coordinates will bring you to park entrance. Due to the historic nature of this site, the actual cache is not placed within the park.

This cache is part of the Wake County Parks Geocaching Tour (WCPGT), which is modeled after the Wake County Junior Naturalist Challenge. Completing this series will require you to visit each of the locations that the participants of the “Junior Naturalist Challenge” will visit. Consequently, each part of this series is named after an event that takes place in that particular park. The six preliminary caches will give you clues to the coordinates of the final cache. This series is also a sort of tribute to my children, who completed the challenge last year (2006). Because the Junior Naturalist Challenge is designed for children, all of the caches in the WCPGT are very kid friendly. Each one is accessible with a baby jogger, and none require more than a .5 mile round trip hike.

This stage begins at Historic Oak View County Park. The park is open 8:30 – 5:00 Mon-Sat; 1:00-5:00 Sun; closed Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Years Day.

Although the actual cache is not placed within the park, it is within walking distance. In order to find the coordinates to the cache, follow the directions below; It will be very helpful to have a compass and a calculator when completing this cache.

Use the following directions along with these coordinates to find the final cache.
N 35 46.NNN

The cache is a small container which holds the log, a stamp pad, and a hand-made stamp. There are no trade items in this cache. PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE THE STAMP OR STAMP PAD FROM THE CACHE!! These are not trade items and are intended to remain in the cache, as it is a requirement for a Letterbox Hybrid. In addition, the stamp included will actually provide your clue for this stage of the series, so use it to stamp your own logbook or your cache printout to obtain your clue.

Other stages in this series are:
